Healing Visualizations

Any remedy that is taken is an opportunity to say to your body I care.  You are turning to Mother Earth and its bounty and the powers of the universe.

On this day, April 22, 2011 Earth Day I thought I would share one way that I look to connect with the universe to find comfort and peace within.  Every other day I do wheatgrass implants as I follow the health program I was given at Hippocrates Health Institute.  The process involves me laying on my side to administer the implant.  While doing so, I utilize this time to tune into my colon and communicate within myself.

It is also an opportunity to give myself loving kindness with words and praise that begins my day with a positive sense of self.  This process allows me to feel empowered as a co-creator of the healing process.  While lying on my sides and back as I administer the implant I use my imagination to visualize myself surrounded by nature.

This process is called healing visualization.  There is a wonderful book by Dr. Jerry Epstein entitled “Healing Visualizations Creating Health Through Imagery” and it can be found at his website.  You can also pick it up on Amazon, but if you go to his website you will learn a great deal about the process and find out some other great mental exercises that you can use as well.  This tool has been so useful for me and has given me great comfort.  I actually look forward to it now when I do my implants as it also helps give my mind something to focus on for the fifteen minutes that I dedicate to this process.

I think it’s important to make the exercise as personal as you can, meaning when you visualize yourself in these natural environments, try to imagine a place that you would want to go to yourself, a setting that feels inviting and calming.  It could be a place you have been before or something entirely made up from your imagination. But what I feel is most important is that it gives you a sense of peace and calm instantly.

My visualization incorporates a healing river in which I place myself in entirely, I then follow the exercise Dr. Epstein provides that includes removing your colon from your body and washing and bathing your colon.  Placing it back inside your body, you sit down to a lovely meal that you eat with grace and happiness and watch yourself digesting it fully.  You then thank your colon and wish it love.

Even writing this as I do now, I feel a tranquil energy come to my mind as I place myself within this image and touch my belly.  You may find that you want to do this exercise daily.  It’s a beautiful way to begin your day.  It also is a great remedy to when you are in pain and discomfort lying in your bed and find your mind focusing on negative thoughts and want to disassociate yourself from these feelings.  You can visualize yourself taking a journey to this natural place and gaining a few minutes of peace.

Hopefully you will find it easy and a quick comfort to help bring positive healing energy to yourself.  I look forward to you sharing your own visual journey with me and others.  Have fun with it and let your imagination be your healing guide.
