Groove to the Season’s Duality

Each season with its changing weather patterns has in my time given me much insight.  As the seasons bare their fruit, each in their own way, they offer us a gift of how nature creates balance and how we can as well.

The winter landscape changes instantly from day to day.  Here this weekend the winter storm so strong layered us in snow; its winds fierce retreated us to our homes, quieted us down and slowed us to groove to the pace of the season.  It brought us to take a moment for reflection.  Just as powerful as the bitter winter cold came, the next day it offered the intensity of the warming sun.  The heat of life so strong to melt away the snow that just the day before seemed so powerful and holding on us.

What comes to us is the renewal of the spirit.  We are invited to face the cold outside with the sun’s encouragement. To get up, stand up and be in motion with the spirit of our energy.   With such abrupt seasonal weather changes nature demonstrates to us that the opportunity to create balance in our lives is always before us no matter what the season may hold for us.

Practicing adjusting our behavioral patterns to help guide us to a state of peace helps us to restore balance from day to day.   For example, when we find our physical health in challenge it is our minds eye that can help to bring ourselves towards accepting that these moments of difficulty have within them an opportunity for us to demonstrate our strength and compassion.

We learn that we can not control what may come to us to pass from one day to the next.  Knowing this, we can take every opportunity to create our day with as much “life” as possible.  We can participate in our day, actively making sure that within the errands and commitments we take on, we make time for ourselves.

A simple exercise that you can do is to take a moment creating a vision of your day using your imagination:

Close your eyes now. Take a moment to envision yourself on a runway in an airplane you are flying slowly making your ascent into the blue sky which has a mixture of weather.  Storms can be seen to the left and right.  Some rain is apparent in the distance.  Sun is strong on the window pane, warming your face and can be seen between the clouds.

How do you feel in your core?  Are you trembling with fears of the unpredictability?  Are you looking down with intimidation as you go higher and higher in the sky?  Do you find yourself wanting to close yourself down immediately descend?

Or, do you find yourself remaining comfortable with the weather in its duality? As you are lifted higher and higher, can you find yourself ascending with a feeling of lightness and a conviction of your spirit.  Do you seem to want to focus on the light of the sun between the clouds beckoning you forward.  What do you see before you? Which way do you want to go?

Your flight is yours to enjoy within the fullness of all that lay before you.  There is a duality at every turn we make; we may find ourselves in darkness at one moment and light the next.  Accepting this as all a part of the possibilities and choosing to direct ourselves forward towards the light is ours.

Groove with the season, groove with your day and make each choice reflect an effort towards creating balance and enjoyment.

In health,

Safara
