Healing Central Forces-Body, Mind and Spirit

In my journey of healing I return time and time again to the concept of how much of healing is in fact a process.  The healing I have experienced has never come through an act of a single “doing” or “being”.  It has not revealed itself simply through diet, positive thought or my meditative practices.  It order to gain my full attention, it has required my perspective on healing to encompass three central forces within myself.  These central forces have been the body, mind and spirit.

Healing is a “thoughtful” process, as anything else done with thought it takes care and attention.  Its a methodology by which our bodies, minds and spirits take the time to re-engage in dialogue about oneself and careful assess what would be best to allow for ourselves to begin to move forward from a place of unease.  Our bodies respond in a complete web of science and biology to address what ails us.  Everyday our bodies work their hardest to return us to a state of homeostasis, to place us in balance.

While this is occurring our minds look to find clues to our unfounded freedom.  We ask ourselves and others questions.  We seek out new remedies and find ourselves on a new path of learning.  We begin a dialogue with words and ideas that were once foreign to us and use this new language in our everyday speech and internal conversations.  We are in a way building upon what our bodies are physically working to accomplish by engaging our minds in our healing process.

Our spirits find themselves longing for a place of respite.  It reaches out to us as a calling to hold ourselves center and finds us looking for clues amongst our environment and the external world beyond what we can see to understand our dis-ease.  We look to centers for wellness and their spiritual guides to create a womb, a matrix for our spirit to draw upon and gain strength for our physical bodies to continue on in its hard work and efforts.

When our body, mind and spirit find themselves working together and aligned in their quest, we have created the opportunity for which to optimize our healing process.  Sometimes we may take these in stages, focusing on one area at a time.  For example, when we are in need of pain reduction, it is our bodies that we are seeking to quiet so that we can open ourselves to our mind and spirit.  Each works as an extension of the other.

So when you reflect on your healing process and find yourself speaking about it, consider the events in your life and how each of these central forces are playing a role in your journey.  Perhaps you might use each day as a chance to reflect or give thanks to your mind, body and spirit for the efforts made and look forward to beginning again in the day to come.

Share your thoughts on your healing central forces.

I am on day 4 of a pretty bad asthma flare up. I find I must admit in my mind that I’m indeed in another flare up and allow myself to know this is ok. There is always some “what if I had done this or eaten that”, always some hop it willl just go away as teh day goes on or when I wake up in the morning etc… Now for my body. I pay close attention to what it is saying. Is it saying I need a steam shower, hot tea, inhaler, breathing treatment, trip to the Dr. etc… Let my mind accept what my body is telling me. As for my spirit, I like to try and do something that simply makes me smile/happy while in a flare up. Today I kept my spirit in line with my action plan by make a homemade pot of soup, sitting out in the yard for 10 minutes of natural vit. D and putting on a ring that brings great memories.

Sasha, it seems you have been doing all you can to help yourself, really practicing aligning mind, body and spirit. I appreciate that you shared how you needed to “let your mind accept what your body was telling you” and only then you could allow for your spirit to be engaged in something that made you happy. Your receipe for good energy and allowing yourself to enjoy a moment in a day sounds just right. Hoping you are feeling better with each passing month about your health as you make peace with yourself and continue your path.
