Happy Autumn everyone. Here we are celebrating the first week of this beautiful season. Wherever you may be this season is in its beginnings.
It may look like a sunny hot day, a cool breeze of a morning chill or a subtle seasonal weather change. Regardless of how you witness the environmental changes, your body is acutely aware; Autumn is here.
One area of your body that particularly comes into this awareness is your large intestines.
The season of Autumn according to Chinese Medicine the transition to Autumn is associated with the large intestines (yang) and the lung (yin). One eliminates toxins from our body and the other receives the new fresh living energy. Its a balance of the system in rhythm our body naturally performs.
Through our elimination and reception we are participating in the season of Autumn that represents so beautifully how “everyone and everything must change, nothing stays the same.” The way of time, of the season shows us through its kaleidoscope of colors how vivid this statement is in our lives.
To participate comfortably in this season with your intestine, it helps to become aware of how your energy may shift. You may find yourself needing a bit more rest as your large intestines may need extra support.
Help yourself by following a routine that eases your intestinal elimination. Introducing new dietary changes can be done gradually and minimally. Allow your body to give you the signs of what it might need to stay balanced.
Consider adding the seasonal vegetables into your diet such as pumpkins, butternut and acorn squash, root vegetables and combining them into wonderful soups and stews.
Your intestines will thank you for being conscious of it this season; and you might find yourself enjoying the Autumn change with more awareness brings a sweeter seasonal experience.
