Comfortable with Uncertainty

In the past few weeks I have begun to have a conversation with myself about how uncertainty has shaped my life.  How important it has been to how I have grown and changed as I found myself standing on new ground.

Each day we wake up with anticipation of what may come of our day.  We make plans, create lists and formalize our lives around tasks management while creating opportunities to enjoy time.

As much as we may try to take care in how we plan and then execute our day, inevitably the uncertainty of life takes it’s course.

This uncertainty continuously plays itself out in our lives in little and big ways.  This becomes particularly apparent when we are faced with an illness.  That which we were unprepared for comes to our door and we wonder how it got there and why.  We ask ourselves what we may have done wrong along the way  in life that may have lead us to now be dealing with our health in more detail than we had hoped for.

Our everyday lives prepare us for these moments whether we recognize them or not.  Becoming comfortable with uncertainty in life is part of what creates a peaceful mind.

We can not control our lives, we can only live it.  By living our life with an conscious awareness of uncertainty we prepare our minds and bodies for change.  We become less fearful and more accepting of what happens to us.

Uncertainty is purposeful, it creates moments of joy as much as it does those of fear and pain.  It opens our lives to opportunities to create our lives and learn from our experiences. So when uncertainty finds you angry and resentful about the change it may bring, fearful not know what may be around the corner; take a moment to recognize the full role it plays in your life and make peace with it and yourself.
