As the energy of the spring season comes into our lives we find a renewal of energy is waiting to burst. It has been harvested by the slow, dormant and nestled environment of winter. Its turn over is not one that finds itself quickly at our door step. It is slow, even paced and deliberate in its beginnings. As such we do ourselves good to be mindful of the seasons “natural progression” and do likewise with ourselves.
Small steps towards inviting spring can begin in our daily lives with our environment, home and the incorporation of seasonal support for our internal organs.
Look, Listen and Watch for Beginnings
Staying closer to our even pace within our day can be done by deliberately stopping and observing the season. Even as you may struggle to venture out from the cozy indoors a short walk amongst the neighborhood may open yourself to the season. You may find more of your neighbors about, children at play and the opportunity to look up rather than down buried beneath a weighted coat just what you needed.
Take in the sounds that remind you of spring. Now you may hear more birds in the morning as you wake. Perhaps the rain against your window pane or the wind’s movement of the trees which have now been freed from their snow coats. Everything is being fed by the rich color of its green beginnings.
Color me Green
The spring season has its element in wood and its color green. With such comes the opportunity to invite more “green”. Breath in all the green of the trees and exhale all the build up of accumulation in your lungs from dormancy. Green feeds the 5th chakra of the heart. “Think of a rich green meadow, and as you draw in your breath, inhale the green of the grasses directly into your heart” says The Book of Guidance.
The color of your wardrobe can be a place to add a cheerful atmosphere to your day. Choose shades of this color in different ways that will enhance your outlook on the season and remind you of its beginnings.
Bring in the Dark leafy veggies
The invitation of dark leafy vegetables is one way to support our bodies with added nutrients that aid in elimination and detoxification. Dark greens hold in their stems and leaves rich antioxidants and cancer fighting properties. Leafy greens are particularly helpful to the liver.
According to the Chinese medicine and eastern healing methods, the season of spring has its central organs of concentration on the liver and the gall bladder. We do ourselves good to direct our choice of foods and herbal remedies in these areas of our bodies at this time.
All of these small deliberate measures act as little invitations to find yourself renewed with its vitality.
Take these few steps one at a time if you like, choose according to your lifestyle and preferences and add a bit of the season with each passing day.
In health,
