Supporting your heart-blood building

Its heart month, yes LOVE month but also in the world of health all about taking care of your heart.  So in this spirit I write you today.

There are many ways to take care of your heart with exercise and diet, taking in nutrients that lower your cholesterol and keep your blood pressure on the right level. But one important way to ensure our hearts are kept in good shape is by providing an optimal blood supply that is rich in nutrients.  Signs of our blood needing support are often demonstrated when we visit our doctors and they tell us that we are anemic.

Beyond taking the extra dosages of iron that are usually recommended, we can take steps on our own to get our hemoglobin levels balanced.  I have become an avid watcher of a TV channel called Veria.  A particularly good show is one entitled “What a Relief” by Amanda Mcquade.  Here are a few recommendations for building blood that I took from her show and I found I can easily incorporate into my daily diet.

1.   Incorporate more vegetables, less red meat-Kale, parsley, carrots and celery are always winners for good health, but particularly helpful when it comes to iron.

2. Chlorella- chlorophyll comes in liquid and tablets and can be taken throughout the day and is a wonderful energy booster as it is full of nutrients that are very close to that found in blood.

3. Stinging nettle- can be taken in tea form contains iron and vitamin C
4. Molasses- 2 teaspoons in hot water. This is nice to take in the morning and would be a nice companion to a cup of tea.
5. Vitamin C- Ms Mcquade also suggested that when take iron, take 150 milligrams of vitamin C, because its needed to absorb the iron.  Check your supplements as you may already be taking this recommended dosage.
Consider taking these blood building tips for review along with you when reviewing your health with your physician.   In addition to attending to your heart physically, we can also take time to nourish ourselves with loved ones.

I have been spending the past few months supporting my heart with the much needed love from family and friends. Loved ones renew ones spirit and our spirits are what keep us ticking.  Yes, it is the physical heart that pumps the blood and keeps things in motion, but without that much needed TLC (tender, loving, care) we would be without the essence to what supports our heart- life purpose.

So grab some kale, a few apricots, mixed in with a tall smoothie and treat yourself to a great blood builder, but don’t forget to make enough for two to share with someone you love.

In health,

Safara
