Peppermint Tea and Oil

So these past few weeks I was feeling a little like my belly could use extra soothing when I went to comfort it.  My routine of giving my belly some pampering usually involves taking nice baths, sitting with a Castor oil pack and watching a movie.  This places me into a nice state of mind and spirit to then slip quietly into sleep.

These past few weeks I have been adding an extra step to my routine and I am really enjoying it.  Peppermint has come to be a wonderful herb to enjoy both as a tea and a rub.  Its aroma alone signals its nurturing qualities, as it fills your nostrils with the sweet and alive smell of its leaves.  It fragrance reminds me of  good healing memories of times when I or those who have cared for me have sought a remedy for congestion, sore throats or a bad cold.

I use peppermint oil as a rub for my belly.  Combining it in a tincture of a base oil of jojoba, almond or any other you like, a few drops in your hand gently massaged on your belly goes a long way.  As a nightly routine, pair it with a good peppermint tea and you’ve created a comfort remedy that is sure to please your belly, and put a good grin on your face that says, “I am at ease.”
