Seeing Your Way Through

Good day to you all my fellow friends.  I am writing to you from South Carolina where I have been graced with the pleasure of enjoying time with my family this summer.

In the time that I have spent here thus far I have found myself at an observational lookout out point from which only such stillness derived from these surroundings could provide.  South Carolina, Charleston to be exact is an environment that is seeped in deep history.  It is apparent in every corner of its vast landscapes.

Willow trees that cascade over swampy mud pools of water or lay in rows covering the roadways seem to hang with such density lightened only by the delicate moss that dangles from its branches.  The moss resonates the passage of time with mankind and the environment with their dark gray color hair-like leaves as extending fro the trees as would a long beard from an old man’s face.  The stillness of the air is heavy saturated with heat and humidity making your lungs slow to catch air; breathing is rhythmic and gentle with slow deep inhales.

Within this environment I can not help but find myself reflecting on my history.  As I do I find myself seeing my way through to new understandings as I clear the moss from my own family trees and make my way through what I am observing about the passage of time.  This process of sorting through your history is an important component I have found to my healing process.

When we take the time to observe ourselves through the eyes of those who have loved us for many years, we gain a perspective on who we were and who we are at the moment.  We might discover that there are habits that we have that no longer serve us. These habits may at one point served to protect us or guide us through moments in our lives that required them; but perhaps they do not apply to who you have become today.

They may have contributed to encouraging you to hold yourself back from fully expressing yourself which can be an unhealthy practice.  We may also take time to observe how we have communicated and find we are more open and honest with ourselves and can now be with those we love.  Applauding ourselves for such gains in your personal development can help to further nurture your healthy outlook.

Seeing our way through our historical roots and discovering ourselves anew is a healthy way to continue on a pathway towards an improved self.  So take some time with loved ones and make your own journey to understanding more about who you were and who you are now.  Consider this act as part of the collection of good efforts that make up the rainbow of  healing moments you have to celebrate.

In health,

Safara
