{"id":866,"date":"2013-05-19T09:00:41","date_gmt":"2013-05-19T13:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=866"},"modified":"2013-05-18T09:34:42","modified_gmt":"2013-05-18T13:34:42","slug":"setbacks-an-opportunity-to-sit-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=866","title":{"rendered":"Setbacks: An opportunity to Sit Back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/setbacks-opportunity-to-sit-back.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-869\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/setbacks-opportunity-to-sit-back-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>When we find ourselves experiencing a setback we can at times take this to mean we have failed.\u00a0 We may belabor on what we did wrong, how did we get here and what were the events\u00a0in our lives that created the backward slide.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is that amongst all those reflections is the underlying importance of what your temporary retreat may actually mean.\u00a0 It may be a backdrop to the larger scene that is taking place before your very eyes; an opportunity to sit back and reflect\u00a0as part of\u00a0your healing journey.<\/p>\n<p>It is tempting to take what happens to us as as either bad or good.\u00a0 But it is rare that anything that we have enjoyed as part of our life has not come without some hard work and bumps along the road.\u00a0 Your journey of healing is on-going as is life and that means that it is going to be filled with many twists and turns as you constantly give your best effort\u00a0to\u00a0creating a\u00a0healthy self.\u00a0 How you handle your set back and treat yourself in the process is key to staying on the path.<\/p>\n<p>Setbacks are an opportunity to take time for yourself.\u00a0 They are moments when we can take a page from our notebooks and begin to look around ourselves.\u00a0 It can be\u00a0an invitation to learn more about ways we can consider our health from a different angle, new ways to\u00a0take care of our well-being.<\/p>\n<p>We can create the environment for our setback to become our own personal retreat.\u00a0 This can be done by setting up your days with as many opportunities to self-reflect and encourage your spirit to become in tune with your body.\u00a0 Our lives are filled with constant noise, and when setbacks happen, as they always do, we can take our minds away from the noise and focus inward.<\/p>\n<p>When we do so with kindness, our setbacks become purposeful and have an endpoint that we can then move forward from with appreciation for what we experienced.\u00a0We can start by being aware of our needs.\u00a0 Then ask what we can do to help ourselves\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>Are we in need of a moment of silence?\u00a0 Can we find a quiet moment in our day at home, take a walk, be near water or just submerge ourselves in a long bath.\u00a0 Do we have a friend we can call, share what&#8217;s on our mind and enjoy a moment of togetherness?\u00a0 Are there foods that we can bring into our diet that comfort our bellies and give our digestive process a break?<\/p>\n<p>What can we look forward to including in our day that would lead us to becoming more at peace within ourselves?
