we give thanks to those who have been a mother to us in our lives.\u00a0 These women who have shaped our lives have been cornerstones of many of the ways in which we have chosen to care for ourselves and those we love.\u00a0 They have given us the comforts of their motherly love and the guidance and reassurance we have needed to go forward with our lives.<\/p>\n<p>What is also helpful for us to consider on this Mothers Day&#8221; are the ways in which we &#8220;mother&#8221; ourselves.\u00a0 How have we acted as a mother to ourselves?<\/p>\n<p>We have opportunities each day to practice being &#8220;mothers&#8221; in how we think, see and act upon caring for our bodies and minds.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Here are some\u00a0consideration we might want to look at\u00a0around the\u00a0concept of mothering in our journey of health.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mothering our Bodies<\/span><\/p>\n<p>How we approach our bodies with healthy choices-Being a mother requires a lot of energy.\u00a0 It means using our bodies every day to address the needs of others.\u00a0\u00a0 Building a strong body is essential.\u00a0 Strong in a &#8220;motherly&#8221; way means\u00a0keeping \u00a0a body that allows us to be functional and practical about our time and energy while enjoying each day with full awareness.<\/p>\n<p>When we are considering what foods to incorporate in our healthy habits we can look for those that will allow our bodies to function at their optimum level.\u00a0\u00a0We can\u00a0in the spirit of motherhood choose \u00a0foods that will help increase our vitality and energy.\u00a0 When preparing foods for our families and friends we can keep in mind that when we cook with\u00a0our hearts and minds\u00a0filled with good intentions\u00a0we are exchanging this energy with others through the foods we prepare for them to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>Our bodies have the opportunity to celebrate the strong core we have created within them\u00a0with the nutritional choices we have made by being active and participating in life with energy.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In doing so we celebrate our vitality.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mothering our Minds<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A day in the life of a mother\u00a0requires that they wake up each morning and attend to the needs of those they love.\u00a0\u00a0To be &#8220;motherly&#8221; means to approach others with kindness and a genuine sense of care\u00a0 and love that comes from the heart.\u00a0 It involves listening and sharing time, comforting those who need it and being patient.<\/p>\n<p>These acts of attention towards others that mothers \u00a0demonstrate every day \u00a0are lessons we can learn from\u00a0in how to approach ourselves.\u00a0 Be an example of\u00a0kindness, be thoughtful, considerate, gentle and warm.\u00a0 Do this with others and practice this\u00a0in talking\u00a0with yourself.\u00a0 When we treat our minds with care we consciously bring awareness to\u00a0the messages we tell ourselves every day about who we are.\u00a0 Acting &#8220;motherly&#8221;
