{"id":349,"date":"2012-03-11T09:00:36","date_gmt":"2012-03-11T16:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=349"},"modified":"2012-03-10T14:19:18","modified_gmt":"2012-03-10T21:19:18","slug":"resting-your-belly-will-thank-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=349","title":{"rendered":"Resting: Your Belly Will Thank You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/resting.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-351\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/resting-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I know you have heard it before in one form or another,\u00c2\u00a0resting\u00c2\u00a0is always perscribed as being good for your health.\u00c2\u00a0 We hear for example how having a good night\u00c2\u00a0sleep can make us more productive and\u00c2\u00a0prolong our\u00c2\u00a0life.\u00c2\u00a0 But have you thought of how it can directly affect your digestion?<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot to be said for this\u00c2\u00a0time spent dormant\u00c2\u00a0in our\u00c2\u00a0day.\u00c2\u00a0 We underestimate its value I think in large part because\u00c2\u00a0sleeping is usually associated with\u00c2\u00a0the act of\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;being&#8221; not &#8220;doing&#8221; which seems to gain more importance\u00c2\u00a0over our lives.\u00c2\u00a0 The amazing thing about taking time to close our eyes is how much is actually going on while we lay in our slumber, how much it really is a productive time out of our day.<\/p>\n<p>While we sleep our body is processing much of our days mental and physical experiences.\u00c2\u00a0 Digestion is happening and how it happens has a lot to do with how we wake up feeling.\u00c2\u00a0 Ever had a full belly when you go to bed and wake up feeling full and therefore tired?\u00c2\u00a0 I have.\u00c2\u00a0 I wake up bloated, I&#8217;m more fatigued and my belly feels uncomfortable.<\/p>\n<p>Learning about the importance of eating early in my evening\u00c2\u00a0has made a great difference in my physical and mental well-being. I usually try to eat my last meal by 7pm.\u00c2\u00a0 The intention is that if I go to bed around 10pm I have given myself a good three hours of pre-digestion before I hit the pillow.\u00c2\u00a0 I know the time spent sleeping is when my body is doing it&#8217;s repairs so I want to create as\u00c2\u00a0much of a settled\u00c2\u00a0enviroment within to give it the opportunity to do so.<\/p>\n<p>I also\u00c2\u00a0find that my bowel movements become more regular and comfortable when I approach my sleep time with this in mind.\u00c2\u00a0 As soon as I feel discomfort in my belly, this is the first remedy that I turn towards to relieve my symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>During the day I\u00c2\u00a0find time to be at rest.\u00c2\u00a0 This doesnt necessarily entail a full sleep, it could be a cat nap, an hour or half hour, or\u00c2\u00a0I just \u00c2\u00a0lay down put my feet up.
