{"id":257,"date":"2012-01-22T09:00:47","date_gmt":"2012-01-22T16:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=257"},"modified":"2012-01-15T16:13:23","modified_gmt":"2012-01-15T23:13:23","slug":"books-for-the-soul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=257","title":{"rendered":"Books for the soul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/books-for-the-soul1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-261\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/books-for-the-soul1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>A girlfriend of mine recently wrote back asking about books that I might recommend for nourishing your soul.\u00c2\u00a0 She didn&#8217;t put it in quite those terms, but she listed Deepak Chopra and I can&#8217;t think of any other way of describing his inspirational teachings.\u00c2\u00a0 So I decided to take a look in my own library of books that I have chosen to shelp around with me through the years as I have moved from here to there, from this phase of my life to that.\u00c2\u00a0 After all, if they have kept up with me and my numerous life changes, they must be something worth exploring so I hope they will\u00c2\u00a0at least to peak your curiosity.\u00c2\u00a0 I decide to focus on\u00c2\u00a03 books\u00c2\u00a0including one by Deepak Chopra as per her request,\u00c2\u00a0and give you a\u00c2\u00a0quote from each which will hopefully give you a taste for what they are about.<\/p>\n<p>1. Something More: Excavating Your Authentic Self by Sarah Ban Breathnach<\/p>\n<p>I mean first of all the lady has the word Breath in her name, need I say more. This book is a great book and workbook because each short chapter\u00c2\u00a0is filled with\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0some great thought provoking questions,\u00c2\u00a0quote or ah-ha\u00c2\u00a0that left me with pen and paper at hand writing about how to do just as the title suggests.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s about how to as a woman\u00c2\u00a0look at yourself,\u00c2\u00a0those dreams you never fulfilled or the parts of yourself you have yet to discover with spiritual grace. \u00c2\u00a0Here is a quote: &#8220;\u00c2\u00a0When the heart is in danger, her Authentic Self is simply following its prime directive: get rid of the blockages, get the heart open to receive and send out love, get the heart centered and in alignment with what&#8217;s truly important, and then get on with it.\u00c2\u00a0 Real life&#8221; (pg 289).<\/p>\n<p>2. Anatomy of The Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing by Caroline Myss, Ph.D.<\/p>\n<p>I have been following Caroline Myss a medical intuitive\u00c2\u00a0for so long, her lectures, website and books on tape have been wonderful for me.\u00c2\u00a0 This book looks at the connection between mind, body and the spirit and how healing is founded on all these principles.\u00c2\u00a0 Here is a quote: &#8220;Becoming detached and conscious means getting certain perceptions from our minds into our bodies.\u00c2\u00a0 It means merging with perceptions that are truth and living them so that their power becomes one and the same as our own energy&#8221; (pg 241).<\/p>\n<p>3.
