{"id":1381,"date":"2015-02-15T09:00:12","date_gmt":"2015-02-15T14:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=1381"},"modified":"2015-02-12T18:42:34","modified_gmt":"2015-02-12T23:42:34","slug":"body-in-motion-within-stillness-of-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=1381","title":{"rendered":"Body in Motion Within Stillness of Winter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/body-in-movement-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1383\" src=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/body-in-movement-2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Yes here we are in the midst of February with the sun at its peak, the snow gently and sometimes fiercely falling out of the sky to our door steps and beyond.\u00a0 As each snow fall comes we find ourselves retreating further into the home and\u00a0finding a\u00a0number of missed opportunities to be out and about.\u00a0\u00a0This is ok, it is part of the season&#8217;s calling\u00a0and we should not make judgment on ourselves for having done so.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0if you feel like you would like\u00a0get your body in motion\u00a0there are plenty of ways you\u00a0can do so without needing to brace the cold frigid airs.<\/p>\n<p>One\u00a0I particularly enjoy\u00a0is\u00a0engaging my body in movement\u00a0in any which way I feel&#8230;and guess what its free! hehe<\/p>\n<p>Movement exercises can be done to music or without.\u00a0 I personally love putting on some tunes and\u00a0letting my\u00a0body flow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Music<\/strong>-What type of music you choose is up to you.\u00a0 It\u00a0can be rhythmic to the sounds of careful repeated notes and tunes that flow in an endless melody.\u00a0 Perhaps there is a classical music compilation that speaks to you or a more jazz or free-flow tune.\u00a0 Ask yourself does what you listen to inspire you to move.\u00a0 Perhaps in subtle ways, just your head or your fingertips.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t matter where in your body you feel the rhythm just let it be.<\/p>\n<p>If this feels a bit too intimidating, close your eyes and place your hands on your heart or your abdomen and just feel the rhythm resonating within you.\u00a0 This may produce a gentle movement of energy and this could be just enough.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use the Environment as Inspiration<\/strong>-Take a look around you.\u00a0 What does your environment look like outside your window?\u00a0 Does it speak of the rhythm and movement of the air above you as you watch the skies move with the winds that pass your window.\u00a0 Can you follow this pattern in your own way with large sweeping movements arms raised high, feet spread apart allowing\u00a0for air\u00a0to circulate\u00a0in and around you as you sway and\u00a0swing.\u00a0 What about the snow as it gently falls can you mimic this action? What does it inspire you to do with your body?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe there is complete stillness to the trees and you find yourself moving in contrast to it with deliberate quick pace.\u00a0 Be sure to look at colors, textures to your environment and see how they may inspire a mood or feeling that compels you to move.<\/p>\n<p>Your home may also be just what you need to feel a rhythm conjured up by paintings, photos, perhaps even smells and sounds of the space you are in.\u00a0 What ever brings it to you let it come and begin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Invite Others<\/strong>&#8211; Once you begin to feel comfortable with enjoying your body in movement you may choose to make this an activity you want to share.\u00a0 Maybe its a once a week &#8220;de-stressor&#8221; gathering for your friends.\u00a0 You may want to\u00a0invite just a few people over\u00a0at a time.\u00a0 Maybe they too\u00a0would welcome the company of you and its\u00a0a wonderful way to allow others to gain time\u00a0being with you in a manner that can\u00a0allow for a new way of interacting.<\/p>\n<p>Select props that may inspire you.\u00a0 Ribbons, small instruments, or wearing something that shimmer or shines that invites you to want to enjoy your body and the act of movement can be a wonderful addition.\u00a0 You may also have a friend that plays an instrument or you yourself have this talent, whatever you want to express in this exercise allow for it to be a part of your movement.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unable to do very much movement due to your physical conditions, don&#8217;t let this stop you.\u00a0 Close your eyes and take in your space and allow your imagination to guide your body through movement.\u00a0 Allow yourself to visualize your body in movement and allow yourself to feel this as a result of your mind&#8217;s eye.<\/p>\n<p>Just listening to music or the stillness of the space and allowing it to resonate with you is what can give your body the opportunity for movement to come about in little or big ways.<\/p>\n<p>So as the weather comes to find you surrendering to insulate yourself from it, let it happen while you create a space within your home that can be used.\u00a0 Chose a space and just begin.\u00a0 It may be your kitchen, living room, bedroom or even the shower.\u00a0 Allow your body to flow and invite it any way it appears.\u00a0 You will be glad you did, and your body will thank you for having done so.<\/p>\n<p>In health,<\/p>\n<p>Safara<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes here we are in the midst of February with the sun at its peak, the snow gently and sometimes [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1381"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1381"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1381\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1386,"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1381\/revisions\/1386"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1381"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=1381"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/safaraf.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=1381"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
