{"id":412,"date":"2012-04-22T09:00:43","date_gmt":"2012-04-22T16:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=412"},"modified":"2012-04-21T11:36:27","modified_gmt":"2012-04-21T18:36:27","slug":"zesty-sunflower-seed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=412","title":{"rendered":"Zesty Sunflower Seed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sunflower-seeds1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-423\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sunflower-seeds1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The munch and crunch of life is meant to be enjoyed by everyone.\u00a0 For me this comes with a good hand full of nuts or\u00a0seeds that I savor and enjoy slowly.\u00a0 It is not often that I eat nuts and seeds in their full robust form.\u00a0\u00a0 When I eat seeds I find myself gravitating towards sunflower seeds that can be easily digested and give me a great satisfying crunch!<\/p>\n<p>The wonderful added benefit of a hand full of\u00a0sunflower seeds\u00a0is the protein that you get out of it as well.\u00a0 A nice 5 grams of protein\u00a0\u00a0can be found in\u00a0one ounce of toasted unsalted seeds and if you up that to a full cup you get a whopping\u00a023 grams of protein. \u00a0Sunflower seeds are low in cholesterol and sodium too.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I found nutritional data that was easy to use and helpful at the\u00a0magazine SELF nutritional data information page.\u00a0\u00a0Find it <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/nutritiondata.self.com\/facts\/nut-and-seed-products\/3079\/2#ixzz1shO5SOGK\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When I indulge myself in their goodness I do so by preparing a large batch that I can access periodically throughout the week.\u00a0 To begin, I soak the sunflower seeds for a few hours and then sprout them.\u00a0 Sunflower seeds sprout quickly and you will know that they have because you will see their shape has transformed and they have quickly increase in size.\u00a0 You can sprout sunflower seeds for up to 18 hours and that makes them really easy to prepare as you can be busy with other food prep and not have to worry about them.<\/p>\n<p>Once sprouted and rinsed they are ready for you to use any way you like.\u00a0 I like to mix them in a bowl and season them with a good dose of herbs and spices and olive oil.\u00a0 Here are a few of my favorite spices:<\/p>\n<p>1. Garlic<\/p>\n<p>2.
