Health, healing, nutrition and balanced living are all apart of the mainstream culture that we live in.\u00a0 Its hopeful for me; it spells the promise of people choosing to take care of themselves because they value their health.<\/p>\n<p>I continue to enjoy learning more about new ways of approaching a healthy lifestyle.\u00a0 One ancient form of healing used by Vedic culture of Indian medicinal practions is Ayurveda.<\/p>\n<p>Ayurveda aims to place the body in balance by focusing on three main elemental substances; or Doshas.\u00a0The three doshas are\u00a0Pitta,\u00a0Kapha and Vata.\u00a0 \u00a0When we find ourselves with illness and our health comprimised; Ayurveda principles state that striving for balancing these three doshas will bring you\u00a0in concert with your body and\u00a0back to health.<\/p>\n<p>Identifying your principal dosha allows you to focus healing practices in the direction of your most needed areas.\u00a0\u00a0 You may also find as I have that\u00a0at different points in your healing you exhibit more characteristics of one dosha or another.<\/p>\n<p>We all have elements of each; but ask yourself which dominates for you.\u00a0Here\u00a0are some basics I choose to illuminate about\u00a0each dosha.\u00a0 I also included a practice for each to help support\u00a0your dosha:<\/p>\n<p>Pitta: Sharp, intense, strong belly, warm body.<\/p>\n<p>Balancing practice:\u00a0 Massage coconut oil in scalp- for a dry scalp.<\/p>\n<p>Kapha: Earth, grounded, large frame, cooler body, act slow, weight gain.<\/p>\n<p>Balancing practice:\u00a0 Holy basil tea- clears congestion.<\/p>\n<p>Vata: Movers and shakers, tendency to skip meals, energtic, active bodies, cold feet and hands, gas &amp; bloating.<\/p>\n<p>Balancing practice: Cumin, coriander and fennel- aid a\u00a0dry colon.<\/p>\n<p>So\u00a0if you are looking\u00a0for another practice to enrich your health; perhaps\u00a0Ayurveda may bring some new opportunites for you to consider.<\/p>\n<p>In health,<\/p>\n<p>Safara<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are many opportunities these days to learn about how we can\u00a0 better improve our well-being.
