{"id":1084,"date":"2013-12-22T09:00:16","date_gmt":"2013-12-22T14:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=1084"},"modified":"2013-12-22T09:31:47","modified_gmt":"2013-12-22T14:31:47","slug":"holiday-giving-being-generous-with-ourselves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/?p=1084","title":{"rendered":"Holiday Giving: Being Generous with Ourselves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/generous-with-ourselves.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1087\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/safaraf.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/generous-with-ourselves-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The winter solstice has come to pass this weekend with\u00a0one of its unique seasonal\u00a0gifts for\u00a0us to embrace: a time for quiet reflection.\u00a0 I recently attended a gathering in my community that offered me moments to sit with peace and reflect.\u00a0Within the comfortable setting I drifted in and out of my minds thoughts; at times peaceful and other times racing in many directions.<\/p>\n<p>I accepted\u00a0all my thoughts\u00a0with equal measure as best I could and found myself at the end of my time there, having left feeling calm and renewed with tranquility.\u00a0 One thing that became apparent in that space and time was the significance of\u00a0 what\u00a0we all can share collectively as human beings;\u00a0that we are\u00a0generous by our very nature.\u00a0\u00a0We practice everyday the spirit of giving.\u00a0 When we can act being conscious of our generosity, we can\u00a0enjoy life more fully and therefore more health.<\/p>\n<p>We are able to give when we feel we have something to give.\u00a0When we actively are in pursuit of what brings meaning to our lives we feel good.\u00a0 We feel good because we can act with conscious awareness of all the positive actions that reflect back to us that we are headed in a direction that brings meaning and purpose to our lives.<\/p>\n<p>When we take this energy and apply it to being generous\u00a0it further highlights this to us.\u00a0We are acting with the conscious awareness of the best parts of our personality that we want to share with someone else.\u00a0 Take for example when we feel happy.\u00a0 When we are happy we want to share our being happy.\u00a0 We may be viewing a beautiful sunset and have a big smile come over our face, feeling the warmth and immediately think or act to invite someone else to enjoy it with us.\u00a0 We\u00a0instinctively become generous because we feel in touch with ourselves and the moment.<\/p>\n<p>When we are going through a hard time, feeling bad about ourselves, stressed, overwhelmed or physically\u00a0unwell is usually when our generosity spirit diminishes.\u00a0 We don&#8217;t feel like we have anything to give because we are depleted.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The desire to be generous is lost\u00a0because we are out of touch with what makes us feel alive;\u00a0being in touch with our best\u00a0self.<\/p>\n<p>We are generous by our very nature.
